GUIDANCE CORNER INSIDE COMPANY'S BUSINESS PREMISES

It is possible to organise a "guidance corner" inide company's business premises in cooperation with management of the company. Employees in need of guidance and counselling can visit the corner during their working day with their own agenda.

In Oulu, career counsellors from adult education institutions and TE-offices (employment services) have pooled together to organise guidance corners in organisations. Typically, career counsellors have

1) discussed training opportunities at employee information sessions in companies where mass redundancies have taken place and

2) provided individualised career counselling at the workplace in guidance corners during briefings organised by the company for employees that have been, or will be, made redundant.

The initial has come from the company side.The network of educational institutions and organisations providing guidance services give guidance to employees inside company's business premises, in a "guidance corner" or service desk. Expertise of counsellors will be chosen carefully to fit each company and the profile of their employees.

CASE TAMPERE

At Tampere region, pools of adult education institutions have also organised "guidance corners" at the workplaces. To help the work of career counsellors, institutions bought a campervan to deliver both guidance and counselling as well as computer, related materials and brochures to the company's parking lot just outside main entrance.
